Fixer Upper Star Clint Harp – Divine Intervention at the Pump

Clint Harp is best known as the dumpster diving, shiplap loving, creative genius behind all the fabulous custom tables and kitchen islands on HGTV’s hit TV show, Fixer Upper.

Now he’s sharing that his success would never have happened if not for a giant leap of faith, and a chance encounter at the gas station.

Clint Harp is a master craftsman who can turn old barn wood into something magical. He loves his job and knows he’s found his calling, but that wasn’t always the case.

Clint Harp: Leap of Faith

Clint was working at sales job where he made a six-figure income when he just knew he needed to quit and pursue his passion for carpentry full-time. Worrying what would happen if he failed wasn’t an option, though he and his wife, Kelly Harp, both knew there was a risk they could go bankrupt.

“I think no matter what it is that you’re doing, at some point you just have to say ‘you know what? Forget the unknown, I just, if I don’t go, then I never will know,’” said Clint.

So he quit, and they were nearly broke. Clint knew that if something didn’t change, he would have to give up on his dream. And that’s when he pulled up to the gas station and divine intervention took over. Because who would pull up at the pump next to Clint that day, but Fixer Upper’s Chip Gaines. And after because of that brief encounter, Clint’s life would forever be changed.

“My job is to be me, and let that Greater Power take care of the rest,” said Clint.

Clint’s business, Harp Design Co. reminds others to never give in to fear and always go for their dreams.

“Your job is to be you and to go for your dream and do whatever it is that you want to do. And eventually, if it’s the right thing it’s going to take on a life of its own to where your job is just to hang on for the ride. You know? And lo and behold, here we are.”
