Man Recreates Photos He Took 40 Years Ago
Back in the 1970s and 1980s, Chris Porsz took literally hundreds of candid photographs of people he encountered in his hometown. Now he’s gone back 40 years later to see if he could track down the subjects of his photos. When he was able to locate them, he would plan a reunion between the people in the photograph at the same location where the original photo was taken. Here are some of the amazing reunion photos Chris was able to take!
Reunion Photos: Eating ice cream
Reunion Photos: Just hanging out
Reunion Photos: Train Platform Goodbye Kiss

Hubba Bubba Chewing Gum Sisters
Anna and Emma Hankins were blowing bubbles with their Hubba Bubba bubble gum in 1980 when they posed for the photo below.
Anna was 11 and Emma was 13, and they went on to have careers as hairdressers. They’re both married and see each other regularly.
Tina Tarr and her friend, Dog, were photographed in 1985 when Tina was 18 years old. The two went on to have twins, but they are no longer together as a couple.
‘I remember the photo being taken, it was a brilliant time.’ said Tina. Dog added, ‘They were good times, I still had hair then.’
Jennifer Hall worked at the fruit and vegetable stall this Farmer’s market for about four years.
‘I think I was about 17 when Chris took my photo. I was aware that someone was taking my picture at the time but I wasn’t sure who or what it was for. My niece saw it in the local paper 30 years later and I realised it had been Chris.’ Jennifer said.
Jennifer now works as a civil servant, and she is married with two children.
French Fry Eating Buddies
Martin Coulson and Andy Randall were eating fries bought from the arcade, the school friends remember.
‘I think it must have been a Saturday and we’d been to the chip shop. The chips were a bit like McDonald’s fries and were always good,’ said Martin, who is now married with two children.
Andy is a telematics engineer who is married with three children.
Reunion photos: Sisters In the Window
Itrat Begum and her twin sisters Rukhsana and Shehnaz were photographed in the window of their home in 1980.
‘We often used to perch in the window and watch what was going on in the road,’ said Shehnaz.
‘My twin sister and I were about seven and Itrat was nine. We loved riding our bikes with the other children in the street and were good friends with another set of twins. Mum said we were quite a handful.’
The three sisters still live in the town and see each other often. Itrat is married with six children and works for the post office. Shehnaz has a daughter and looks after elderly and disabled people, with her twin, who has five children.
Reunion Photos: Ice Cream Man
Gino used to be an ice cream man, but now he runs a successful pasta shop with his daughter. Gino also has two other children and four grandchildren.
It’s fascinating to hear what the people he photographed are up to now, and to see how much the surroundings have changed, too!
