Imagine how scary it is to receive news that you have a potentially life-threatening health condition right after you vowed to love someone for the rest of your life? Shortly after their wedding, William and Janice Robertson received the scary diagnosis that William was suffering from diabetes. They went on a mission of weight loss.
William was warned that if he wanted to life a long and happy life he would have to make changes. He needed to change his diet and increase his level of exercise. Prior to the diagnosis, the couple was never cautious about their health or eating habits.
Janice says, “We were so in love, neither of us cared”.
They definitely gained a new perspective on a healthy lifestyle.
This couple took bad news and used it to give them motivation to completely transform their lives by starting their weight loss journey. They encouraged each other, made it a fun competition, and together they loss over 200 pounds of weight.
“We are best friends and we do everything together. We both decided to lose weight. It was so much better because it became a bit of a competition.” Janice commented.
Wedding Bells
After looking at photographs from their first wedding and realizing how unhappy they felt about the way they looked, they decided to redo their wedding. The couple was proud of their transformation and wanted show off how even more in love they were after being married for 10 years.
Janice shares how she did not enjoy wedding dress shop for her first wedding at all. She was a size 22 at that time and dress options were limited to her. Her experience was better going wedding dress shopping for the second time. Because of being a size 12, she was able to try on almost every wedding dress in the store. Though William wore very similar attire, he looked like a completely different man. They loved the way they looked in pictures at their second wedding.
‘It was a fantastic day. The weather didn’t bother us. It was emotional and I could still cry. I am so proud of them.’ Pauline Tennent, mother of the bride shared.
